Waste Factor. Having Extras on Hand.

For the most part, straight lay installations would use a 5% waste factor by professionals. However, if you get into larger layouts and there are many parallel wall lines the waste factor should be increased to 7-10% especially with wider material. The same would hold true of many 45º or other irregular wall lines.

The safest waste percentage would be 10%. It's also better to have a few boxes on hand in case of repairs that may be needed down the road. With prefinished hardwood floors, lines are discontinued now and then, or the manufacturer has changed the way they mill the product. Finding matching material often becomes impossible.

This product demonstrates Products Properties Extension multidimensional feature with packs calculator.

The product is sold in packs. Customer specifies the desired area. The number of packs required to cover the desired area of flooring is calculated and used as the order quantity.

In this example the price and the quantity in stock are managed in packs, not in square meters.

This product uses the Products Properties Extension multidimensional plugin Pro to calculate the cuts and wastage.

If you do not use the cuts and wastage, you can use the Products Properties Extension multidimensional plugin Basic for this example.

This product demonstrates Products Properties Extension Pro feature allowing customers to choose the preferred unit measurement system and calculate the quantities and prices accordingly.

If you do not use different units of measurement, you do not need the Products Properties Extension Pro for this example.

display mode

The display mode used in the current example:
- reversed price display (display unit price as price)

The display mode defines how the module presents the product price.

In normal mode, the module displays the product price as defined by the theme. Usually the theme emphasizes the product price to attract user attention.

In the reversed price display mode the unit price is used as the main displayed price on the product page and replaces the regular price on the home page and in the categories or cross selling products pages. If you sell an expensive product, you can specify the small units with the low price and make you product looks more attractive for the user.
Note: you need to specify a unit price text for the reversed price display mode.

The display retail price as unit price mode instructs the module to display a retail price in the position of the unit price. This mode is useful when the product has combinations and the combination prices are differ from the base price.

The display base unit price for all combinations mode instructs the module to display the unit price calculated for the default attribute for all combination. This mode is useful when the product has combinations with different prices and you would like to display additional price information that does not depend on the combination price.

The display legacy product price mode instructs the module to display a legacy product price instead of a dynamically calculated product price.

The display unit price in orders and invoices mode instructs the module, for products with unit price greater than zero, to display a unit price as an extra detail in orders and invoices.

The display number of items instead of quantity mode instructs the module to display a number of ordered items instead of a dynamically calculated product quantity. This mode is useful when the product uses the multidimensional features and the total calculated quantity depends on the number of items and the quantity or size of each item.

In order to provide more information to the user the module displays different texts and additional details about the quantity, product price, unit and total price in orders and invoices. Sometimes it desired not to show this information. You can fine-tune the display of these details by selecting to hide extra details for unit price, quantity and total price in orders and invoices.

inline explanation

Inline explanation appears in the ordering block on a product page. It is usually a special message explaining the trading policy, but can be any text or valid HTML and can include images.

You can create dynamic explanation strings by using macros. When you use macros, the template engine calculates and substitute quantity values in place of macros in the explanation string. Read more about macros in the documentation.

You can define any number of different explanation messages.

display unit measurement system

This example uses Product Properties Extension plugin Pro unit measurement system feature.

Enabling the measurement system feature instructs the module to add a block allowing customers to choose the preferred unit measurement system on the product page and calculate the quantities and prices accordingly.

packs calculator

The multidimensional plugin packs calculator feature allows using dimensions to calculate the number of items of the product. For example, if you sell tiles in cartons, the dimensions used to calculate the area. The calculated area determines the number of cartons and the price.

An explanation displayed for the dimension. It can be any text or valid HTML and can include images. You can also choose how you would like to display the explanation. You can display the explanation as an inline text or as a tooltip.

Product Properties Extension plugin Pro

The PS&More Product Properties Extension plugin Pro adds an additional functionality to the Product Properties Extension module. The plugin adds an ability to display additional information and activity elements on category, new products, popular products, best sellers, search results and other pages that display a product list. The plugin allows specifying certain Product Properties Extension module template properties individually for each product in the back office, making the configuration more flexible. The property explicitly specified for the product overrides the template property.

Multidimensional plugin Pro

The PS&More PrestaShop Product Properties Extension Multidimensional plugin adds an additional functionality to the Product Properties Extension module. The plugin allows to specify additional characteristics to the products, such as height, width, length, depth and others. The plugin uses these additional characteristics (or dimensions) to calculate the resulting order quantity and a price. Using the plugin, you can sell products by square, perimeter, volume, etc.

The Multidimensional plugin comes in three versions: Basic, Pro and Premium. The Pro and Premium versions add an additional functionality to the plugin.
